Founder of the year – 2021 – CameraMatics

Mervyn O’Callaghan, co-founder and CEO of CameraMatics, was named the Enterprise Ireland High-Potential Start-Up (HPSU) Founder of the Year for 2021 at a virtual awards event, sponsored by Grant Thornton.

CameraMatics provides cutting-edge, award-winning SaaS technology for fleet and driver risk management. The company helps customers reduce accidents, improve operational efficiencies and manage compliance. Scaling fast, CameraMatics has close to 1,000 customers including global leading fleet operators. There were 12 nominees for the 2021 award, all of whom were voted for by their peers who have been taking part in Enterprise Ireland’s High Potential Start-Up (HPSU) Founders Forum over the last 24 months.

Fionn Lahart of One Projects and John McCarthy of Taxamo were also acknowledged for their companies’ achievements to date and voted as runners-up. Other finalists included: Ian Duffy, Accelerated Payments; Niamh Parker, Altada; Ross Lawless, CALT Dynamics; Karina Kelly, Content Llama; Kerrill Thornhill, MEG; Oisin Curran, Odyssey VC; Sharon Cunningham, Shorla Pharma; Wendy Slattery, The Beauty Buddy and Peter Jenkinson, Wrkit.

Founder of the year – 2019 – Neurent Medical

Brian Shields, Founder of Neurent Medical was awarded the Enterprise Ireland High-Potential Start-Up (HPSU) Founder of the Year for 2019 at an awards event at the Gibson Hotel last night, sponsored by Grant Thornton. The Galway based company designs and develops products for treating inflammatory disease of the nasal cavities.

The Founder of the Year Awards, now in its third year, acknowledge and celebrate the commitment that entrepreneurs and start-ups have made to build world class companies of the future. There were nine finalists for the 2019 Award, all of whom were voted for by their peers who have been taking part in Enterprise Ireland’s High Potential Start-Up (HPSU) Founders Forum over the last year.

Gillian Doyle, Cerebreon Technologies and Brendan Sheppard, SmartFactory were also acknowledged for their companies’ achievements to date and voted as runners-up on the night. Other finalists included: Declan Soden, Mirai Medical, Ollie Walsh, Pip iT, Rob Leslie, Sedicii, Aisling Teillard, Tandem HR Solutions, Pat Kirby, Tixserve and Rafael Pages, Volograms.

John Ghent from Sytorus was awarded Enterprise Ireland High-Potential Start-Up (HPSU) Founder of the Year for 2018 at an awards event at the Gibson Hotel last night, sponsored by Grant Thornton. Sytorus is one of Europe’s leading data protection firms with offices in Dublin, London and Stockholm.

The Founder of the Year Awards, now in its second year, acknowledge and celebrate the commitment that entrepreneurs and start-ups have made to build world class companies of the future. There were seven finalists for the 2018 Award, all of whom were voted for by their peers that have been taking part in Enterprise Ireland’s High Potential Start-Up (HPSU) Founders Forum over the last year.

Other finalists included: Paul Killoran, Ex Ordo; Niall Rafferty, Medxnote (3^rd Runner-up); Simon Dempsey, Likewhere; Brian Noonan, Cala Medical; Dan Fox, Johnson Hana and Paul Mullin, The White Hag (2^nd Runner-up).
